Completed project: 75-inch TV mounted over a fireplace in Richmond Hill

A customer in Bayview Hill wanted their new 75-inch TV above the living room fireplace — a stone surround, no power outlet up top, and a strong preference for zero visible cables. This is one of the most common 'harder than it looks' jobs we do.

What makes fireplace mounts different

• Stone and masonry need sleeve anchors rated for the TV's weight, not drywall toggles
• Heat from the fireplace means checking clearances and using a mount rated for the location
• Viewing angle matters — a fixed flat mount above a fireplace forces your neck up, so we fitted a pull-down tilt mount
• No outlet behind the TV means routing power safely — extension cords behind a wall are against code

How we ran the cables

We installed an in-wall rated power and HDMI kit through the adjacent drywall section, keeping everything code-compliant, and tucked the runs behind the stone profile. From the couch, there's a TV on stone and nothing else — no wires, no conduit, no drama.

The result

About two and a half hours on site. The TV pulls down and tilts for movie nights, sits flush against the stone the rest of the time, and the customer sent us a photo a week later with the caption 'still can't find the cables.' That's the job.
