Completed project: a powder-room refresh in Newmarket

The powder room is the one guests always see, and this one in Newmarket was stuck in the past — an old octagon-tile floor, a builder vanity, and lighting that did the room no favours. The homeowners wanted a clean, current refresh without moving walls. That is exactly the kind of high-impact, contained job we love.

Before the finish: opening the wall to patch and update what was behind it.

The scope of work

There is more behind a powder-room refresh than a new vanity. We patched and repaired the wall, tidied the rough plumbing so the supply and drain met the new vanity cleanly, then set a white shaker vanity with a speckled cultured-marble top and an undermount basin. A new chrome faucet, a framed mirror, a fresh vanity light bar and a brushed-nickel towel ring finished the room.

Tidying the rough plumbing so the new vanity and faucet land exactly where they should.

The result

Finished Newmarket powder room with a white shaker vanity, undermount sink, chrome faucet, framed mirror and bright vanity light
After: a bright, current powder room — new vanity, sink, faucet, mirror and lighting.

The same small footprint now feels considered and finished. New lighting lifts the whole room, the shaker vanity adds storage, and the framed mirror ties it together — the sort of upgrade guests notice the moment they walk in.

What a powder-room refresh costs

Powder rooms are the most affordable bathroom to renovate because they are small and have no tub or shower to waterproof. Rough guide for York Region:

  • Vanity, sink, faucet, mirror and light swap: $1,500–$3,500
  • Add wall repair, new flooring and paint: $3,500–$6,000

Fixtures and finishes drive the price; every powder room gets a fixed quote after we see it.

Why hire a professional

  • A powder-room refresh touches plumbing, carpentry and electrical — a pro handles all three in one visit instead of three separate call-outs.
  • An undermount sink and a level, well-anchored vanity are the details that make a small room feel properly built.
  • The behind-the-wall plumbing and patching is what keeps the finished room looking sharp for years.

We refresh powder rooms across Newmarket, Aurora, Richmond Hill, Vaughan, Markham, East Gwillimbury, Bradford and the wider York Region. It is the compact version of our full bathroom renovations, and pairs with new bathroom accessories and faucet installation.
